Not because we are Good

Not because we are Good
C. S. Lewis said,
“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.”
                                          C.S. Lewis.
Christians believe we cannot be good enough or do enough good works to stand before a just and holy God.
The apostle Paul reminds us,
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
                                                                       Romans 3:23,24
He writes to the Ephesians,
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast.”
                                                                                         Ephesians 2:8,9.
This is quite different to many other faiths in the world. Christianity makes it simple to get into heaven. We must simply believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that he paid the price for our sins on the cross.
John tells us,
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.”
1John 1:9-10.
John tells us in his gospel,
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—  children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
                                       John 1:12,13
It could not be more simple.
Think about it.
