Are these the fruit in your life?

Are these the fruit in your life?

In the book of Proverbs we read,

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5,6

In the book of Corinthians we read,

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"  2 Corinthians 5:17.

For anyone who has truly accepted Jesus Christ into their heart there is a change that takes place. That person goes on to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit. The book of Galatians stating,

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22,23.

Are these the fruit in your life?

Please think about it.

Believers are called to

 Believers are called to

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8.

Here is what the believers in God are called to do.

Do justice,

Love Kindness,

Walk humbly with your God.

In the book of Proverbs we are called to.

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you;

 bind them around your neck,

write them on the tablet of your heart.

Then you will win favour and a good name

in the sight of God and man."

                                                           Proverbs 3:3,4

The apostle Paul defines what Christian love is saying,

"Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails....

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love

But the greatest of these is love."

                                                      1 Corinthians 13:4-8a,13

If you believe in God. If you believe in Christ Jesus are you doing what these scriptures a asking you to do?

Please think about it.

Bind them around your neck

Bind them around your neck

In the book of Proverbs we read,

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you;

bind them around your neck,

write them on the tablet of your heart.

Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man."

                                                                                                          Proverbs 3:3,4.

Do you Love God? Are you faithful to Him? Does your love extend to those around you, family friend and foe alike?

In Galatians we read,

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”  Galatians 5:22,23.

The apostle Paul defined what Christian love is when he wrote,

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails....

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1Corinthians 13:4-8a,13.

Jesus said,

"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets" Matthew 7:12

So Do you follow the teachings of Jesus and the apostles?

Are you showing the fruit of the Spirit and attributes of Love as the apostle Paul laid out? Are you obeying the words of Jesus recorded in Matthew 7:12

Please think about it.

Loving Gods way

 Loving Gods way

The apostle Paul defines Christian love this way

“Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil

but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails....

And now these three remain:

faith, hope and love

But the greatest of these is love.”

                                               1 Corinthians 13:4-8a,13.

This is how God loves, unconditionally. This is what we are called to do to those around us. Love them unconditionally.

So my question to you is do you love the way God loves?

Please think about it.

Quick to quarral

 Quick to quarrel

In the book of Proverbs we read,

“It is to a man’s honor to avoid strife

but every fool is quick to quarrel.”

                                                  Proverbs 20:3.

The apostle Paul states,

"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you,

live at peace with everyone."

                                          Romans 12:18.

It is up to us as believers in Christ Jesus to live a peaceful life with those around us. We will never win a soul for Christ by quarrelling with them.

It is not our job to quarrel with anyone. As believers we are to present the word of God to others and let them make the decision for themselves.

When you present the Gospel of Christ to others are you quarrelling with them, or are you simply presenting what you believe to them?

Please think about it.

Show me, teach me

 Show me, teach me

In the book of Psalms we read,

"Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long." Psalm 25:4,5.

If you believe this then you need to be praying and studying the Bible. You need to join with other believers asking God to show you his precepts. And you need to be asking God how you can live a life in a way that is pleasing to Him.

Are you doing this?

Please think about it.

The way to heaven

 Jesus is the way

Jesus said,

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.  John 14:6.

Here is what Christians believe about Jesus. He is the way to God Almighty. No one comes to the Father except through him.

This is a fundamental belief of all Christians. A belief Christians present to all people. We don’t force our faith on anyone. We simply say this is what we believe. Then leave it up to the individual to decide for themselves if they believe it or not.

Thus I leave the choice to you. Do you believe Jesus is the way to God or not?

Please think about it.

We are ambassadors for Christ

We are ambassadors for Christ

The Apostle Paul writes,

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.  2 Corinthians 5:18-20

As believers in Christ Jesus we should always remember what the apostle Paul is saying here

“We are therefore Christ's ambassadors,

as though God were making his appeal through us.”

                                                                         2 Corinthians 5:20.

If you claim to be a Christian. A true believer in Christ Jesus you must always remember you are Christs representative on this Earth. People will see Christ through what you say and do.

St. Augustine said,

"A Christian is:

a mind through which Christ thinks,

a heart

through which Christ loves,

a voice

 through which Christ speaks,

       and

a hand through which Christ helps"

                                                                                St. Augustine

Francis of Assisi put it this way,

"The deeds you do

may be the only sermon some persons will hear today"

                                                                              Francis of Assisi.

Thus my question, What are your words and deeds telling those around you about Christ?

Please think about it.

Seek peace and pursue it

 Seek Peace and pursue it

The Psalmist writes,

"Come, my children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days,

keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.

Turn from evil and do good;

seek peace and pursue it."

                                                            Psalm 34:11-14.

Francis of Assisi wrote,

"Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love,

Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light;

And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life."

                                                                     Francis of Assisi

As Christians, as believers in Christ Jesus I think we should all do our best to live by the words of the Psalmist.  For by doing so we can make the world a better place to live.

Please think about it.

Christian ponder this

 Christian ponder this

Here from the book or Proverbs and the mouth of Jesus is something to think about.

“Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor

will himself call out and not be answered.”

                                                          Proverbs 21:13.

Jesus said,

"Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

"They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

"He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." Matthew 25:41-46.

So if you consider yourself a true Christian, a true follower of Christ Jesus are you doing what you can to help the poor?

Please think about.

A Holy and Peaceful life

A holy and peaceful life

The apostle Paul wrote,

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you,

live at peace with everyone.”

                                    Romans 12:18

The writer of Hebrews states,

“Make every effort to live in peace with all men

and to be holy;

without holiness no one will see the Lord.”

                                                            Hebrews 12:14.

If you claim to be a Christian are you doing your best to live at peace with all people? Are you doing your best with Gods help to live a holy life?

Because if you are not you will not win a soul for Christ.

As Christians we should be known for our love and understanding. People should see our love for God and those around us be they family, friend, or foe.

So I ask the questions again;

Are you doing your best to live at peace with all people.

Are you with Gods help doing your best to live a holy life?

Please think about it.

Let Love and faithfulness

Let love and faithfulness

In the book of Proverbs we read,

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you;

bind them around your neck,

write them on the tablet of your heart.

Live by faith

 Live by Faith

In the gospel of Luke we read,

"A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good—except God alone.

You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.''"

"All these I have kept since I was a boy," he said.

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." Luke 18:18-22.

Here is what Jesus is saying here. Live by faith. Do not rely on your earthly wealth. Live by faith expecting God to supply you needs.

In the book of Philippians we read,

"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:19.

Do you believe this. Do you rely on God to supply your needs?

Do you think the pastors and evangelist you support believe this?

Please think about it.

Work for God

Work for God

In the book of proverbs we read,

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." Proverbs 31:8,9.

All too often I think the church, particularly the evangelical church here in North America fail to follow what is said here in Proverbs 31:8,9.

While there are a lot of Churches that do reach out and help the poor, and destitute. There are also way too many who do not. There are even many who call themselves Christians who prey upon the poor. Saying if they “sow a seed” meaning give money to their ministry God will bless you with ten, or a hundred fouled return on your money.

There are also those churches, evangelist and pastors who are focussing so much on the ills of society and not on the love of God, that they are seen by secular society in a negative way.

In the book of James we read,

"What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?

Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.

If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead

But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?" James 2:14-20.

I like what the American Evangelist Tony Campolo said,

"These issues are biblical issues: to care for the sick, to feed the hungry, to stand up for the oppressed. I contend that if the evangelical community became more biblical, everything would change." Tony Campolo.

As Christians our faith must urge us on to help the hungry, and the oppressed. In this way we will I believe win favour with God and man. And not only that, see souls won for Christ.

Please think about it.

Your Purpose

 Your Purpose

The apostle Paul writes,

“For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” Ephesians 2:10.

What is your purpose in life?

The apostle Paul speaking to believers in Christ Jesus tells us “we are Gods workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works”

Jesus said,

"Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

"Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?

When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

"The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" Matthew 25:34-40.

Doing good works. Doing Gods work in this world is the purpose of the Christian life.

So are you doing any good works?

When you stand before God what will he say about you?

Please think about it.

Dedicated to the Lord

   Dedicated to the Lord

In the book of Deuteronomy we read,

"Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk to them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up

You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6:4-9.

How dedicated to God are you?

Do you,

“...love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”

Is your faith so much a part of your life that even without saying anything people who see you know you are a believer in Christ Jesus?

Francis of Assisi wrote,

“Preach the Gospel at all times

and when necessary use words.”

                                                Francis of Assisi.

Is this what you are doing?

Please think about it.

About praising the Lord

About praising the Lord

The Psalmist writes,

“Praise the LORD.

Praise God in his sanctuary;

praise him in his mighty heavens.

Praise him for his acts of power;

praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,

praise him with the harp and lyre,

praise him with tambourine and dancing,

praise him with the strings and flute,

praise him with the clash of cymbals,

 praise him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD.”

                                Psalm 150

Here is a simple question if you consider yourself a Christian, a believer in Christ Jesus. How often do you take time when you are not in church to praise God?

Please think about it.

Pray

 Pray

The apostle Paul writes,

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone...” 1 Timothy 2:1.

If you claim to be a Christian do you pray for everyone around you? Do you pray for your family members, friends, neighbours, enemies, government and religious leaders? The apostle Paul says you should. So do you?

Please think about it.

Faith, Belief in God

 Faith, Belief in God

The Bible opens with the statement,

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1.

It does not open the existence of God for debate it simply states there is a God who created the heavens and the earth.

The way I see things is we can either believe in God or not believe in God. There is no middle ground.

Admittedly to believe in God takes an act of faith because we cannot see God. But believe we must. The writer of the book of Hebrews telling us,

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.

The way I see it God asks us to have faith that He exists because having faith in anything particularly something or someone you cannot see is very hard for most people.

It is doubly hard I think for people to believe in a God who “seemingly” has been silent for several millennium.

That being said the true believer longs to see God. As the psalmist puts it,

“I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,

and in his word I put my hope.”

                                                        Psalm 130:5

Do you believe in God?

Please think about it.

At Peace

At Peace

The apostle Paul writes,

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you,

live at peace with everyone.”

                                                   Romans 12:18.

Do you do your best to live at peace with those around you?

All it takes to live at peace with those around you is to obey these words of Jesus,

Jesus said,

Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

This is the first and greatest commandment.

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40.

Jesus also said,

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12.

If you as a Christian are living by these verses then you have done all you can to live at peace with those around you

Thus the question becomes; Are you obeying these words of Jesus.

Please think about it.
