Trying to put out the sun

Trying to put out the sun

“A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.”
C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain

In my forty years now of being a Christian I’ve met many atheist. Men and women who deny there is a God. It’s their right, but they are in my opinion wrong.
Some have said to me my faith is a crutch. If it is at times it’s a very rickety one.
Keep in mind that according to a report given to the British house of commons one Christian dies for their faith every eleven minutes.
If God is not real why does countries like North Korea oppress Christianity so brutally.
Why are millions of people both today and in ages past willing to die for the cause of Christ.
From ancient days man has believed in a God or god’s. the ancient Greeks and Romans had a pantheon of god’s
In Athens apparently not wanting to offend any god, had a temple to an unknown god.
The ancient Egyptians worshipped their Pharaoh’s as God’s. The also believed in an after life. Building the pyramids and filling them with grave goods that they thought their Pharaoh’s would need in the afterlife.
Throughout Europe ancient burials have turned up grave after ancient grave in which the dead were buried with elaborate rituals and laid with things thought essential in the after life.
It seems ingrained in the very psyche of man that there is life beyond this one.
If there isn’t life after death in my humble opinion life is worthless.
The writer of Ecclesiastes states,
“I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.
Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.”
                                                                                        Ecclesiastes 2:10,11.
This to me is what life on this earth would be without God. Ecclesiastes however after much contemplating comes up with the right answer writing,
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”
Ecclesiastes12:13,14.
You can say there is no God but that does not make it so as C.S. Lewis puts it,
“A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.”
Think About it.
