God, you, and Heaven

God, you, and heaven

Long before Jesus walked on this earth people believed in God and the after life. Beliefs on how people got into that afterlife and in God varied, but the belief in God permeates all history.
With God calling Abraham to leave his homeland and follow Him in faith God set in motion a series of events that allow us today to enter into his presence by simply having faith in Him.
The following is how we Christians believe you get to heaven,
First of all Christians believe Jesus is God incarnate God in the flesh. Who came to earth to remove our sins, to point us to heaven and save us from hell. The writer of Hebrews states,
“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” Hebrews 1:1-3
Paul writing to the Romans said,
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 3:23,
Sinning is falling short of what God wants for you life. Sin separates us from God and everyone no matter who they are sins.
However the apostle John tells us God will forgive our sins writing,
“If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness.
If we claim we have not sinned,
we make him out to be a liar
and his word has no place in our lives.”
1 John 1:9,10.
Paul make it clear salvation is not something we can work for. It is a gift from God, Paul writing to the Ephesians stating,
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith
and this not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God
not by works, so that no one can boast.”
  Ephesians 2:8,9.
That grace came through the sacrificial death of Jesus. The apostle Paul writing to the Romans said,
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” Romans 5:8-11.
In believing in Jesus and accepting His sacrificial death for our sins, by faith, we will enter heaven.
Salvation ultimately, is an act of faith, Hebrews stating,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”
Hebrews 11:6
Faith defined as,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1
C. S. Lewis said,
“He died not for men, but for each man. If each man had been the only man made, He would have done no less.” C.S. Lewis.
Thus the choice is yours will you believe in Jesus and accept Him as the Lord and Saviour of your life?
Will you accept Christ into your life today. If you are willing, you can pray this prayer,
Dear Heavenly Father,
I believe in You. I believe that Jesus is your one and only Son. That he came to earth to die for my sins.
Please forgive my sins this day and come into my life. That I may spend eternity with you.
In Jesus name I pray,
                            Amen.
The prayer is nothing magical it is simply expressing your faith in God and your belief that Jesus is the Son of God. Your Saviour.
All I would ask of anyone reading this is to consider what I have said and read the New Testament to see for yourself who Jesus is and why He came to earth.
Please think about it.
