Jesus The Messiah or Not?

Jesus The Messiah or not?
John’s gospel records this conversation between Martha and Jesus.
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;  and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
“Yes Lord” she told Him, “I believe you are the Christ the Son of God, who was to come into the world,” John 11:25,26.
Jesus was not stupid he knew what the law at the time said. To equate oneself with God is punishable by death.
So in making this statement was Jesus telling the truth or was Jesus insane?
C. S. Lewis states,
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
This is a question I believe every individual must decide for themselves. Has Jesus and his disciples created a monumental lie that has come down through the centuries, Or. Is Jesus the One and Only Son of God, the Saviour of mankind, the suffering Messiah prophesied by Isaiah. Or is he not.
The choice is yours.
Please think about it.
