God's choice for you

God's choice for you

In the book of Joshua we read,

“Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.

But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24: 14,15.

This is a choice we all have to make. Serve the gods of the world we live in, or serve the one true God, maker of heaven and earth.

The society in which we live in 2026 especially here in North America is a world of many gods. We may not call them gods but materialism, and the quest for luxury items are gods. Even Atheism is a god.

And the Lord God almighty. Maker of heaven and earth, gives us a choice to follow Him or them.

So the question becomes who do you worship?

Please think about it.

What can I do?

 What can I do?

The Psalmist writes,

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139:7-10.

There is nowhere to run from God. Which ultimately means that God can and does guide us no matter where we are. If we are willing.

I know in the good times it’s easy to follow God. However it is in the bad times that we see the true believer shine.

When bad times hit we have too choices.

One call out to God and ask Him why are you in the position you are in and complain about your circumstances saying “why me Lord?”

The other choice is to call of God and ask Him to be with you, guiding, directing and comforting you. Saying “what do you want me to do Lord?” Or, “What do you want me to learn today?”

When you go through hard times in life what do you do?

Please think about it.

The Bible or the Constitution?

  The Bible or the Constitution?

The apostle Paul wrote,

"Let each of you look not only to your own interests,

but also to the interests of others."

                                                                 Philippians 2:4.

The year is 2020 a year like no other for everyone on the planet. A year that tests Christians. A year in which I am amazed at some American Christians. They say they believe the Bible yet are forgetting the words of the apostle Paul who said,

"Let each of you look not only to your own interests,

but also to the interests of others."

                                                                 Philippians 2:4.

Instead they are demanding “their right to assemble in large groups without social distancing or masks”.

As I understand it no one is stopping Christians or any other group from worshipping. All that is being asked is that they follow health guidelines to protect those around them. They are being asked to look to the interest of others.

Sadly all to often in the United States especially, the constitution written by fallible men, takes priority over the infallible word of God. With personal rights coming before the rights of others. This is certainly not what the apostle Paul taught.

If you are an American reading this which is more important to you, The Bible or the constitution?

If you are living outside the United States which is more important to you the constitution of your country or the Bible? And don’t say both your can’t serve two masters.

Please think about it.
