The apostle Paul defines Christian love this way

“Love is patient, love is kind. 

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, 

it is not easily angered, 

it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil 

but rejoices with the truth.  

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 

Love never fails....

And now these three remain: 

faith, hope and love. 

But the greatest of these is love.”  

                                               1 Corinthians 13:4-8a,13.

This is how God loves, unconditionally. This is what we are called to do to those around us. Love them unconditionally.

So my question to you is do you love the way God loves?

Love is the key to a Christian life. Love is what motivated God to send Jesus into this world. Perhaps the best known verse in the Bible is in the Gospel of John where Jesus is quoted, talking about himself and saying,

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16,17. 

True love can be costly. After all it cost Jesus His life. The apostle Paul telling us,

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: 

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." 

                                                                  Romans 5:8.

The Apostle Paul defines Christian love this way.

Loving according the Paul’s definition is difficult and we all fall short from time to time. Still it is to this definition we as true believers in Christ Jesus must live up to.

Without a doubt this is the definition of true Christian love. The kind of Love we as believers in God. As believers in Christ Jesus are asked to show.

Do you show this kind of Love in your daily life?

On the day you pass on into eternity will the people who knew you say you loved as Christ did.

Will God say it also?

The apostle John writes,

"It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.  

And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.  

And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love." 2 John 1:4-6.

We as believers in Christ Jesus are called to walk in truth, love and in obedience to God’s command. 

The definition of Christian love is defined by the apostle Paul when he writes,

"Love is patient, love is kind.

 bind them around your neck, 

write them on the tablet of your heart. 

Then you will win favour and a good name

 in the sight of God and man."

                                                          Proverbs 3:3,4.

Here is a simple question. Do you Love?

Before you answer that question however read the following. It’s the apostle Paul’s definition of Love. It reads,

We must also love our enemy. Jesus stating,

"You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.'  

But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  

If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?  

And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?  Matthew 5:43-47.

This is true Christian Love. So the question I pose to anyone who calls themselves a true Christian. A true follower of Christ Jesus is;

 Is this your definition of love. If you are a Christian. A true believer in Christ Jesus, it should be. It should be the kind of love we show to our families, friends and foe alike.

"Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'  

Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" Matthew 7:22,23.

Mahatma Gandhi said,

"Jesus is ideal and wonderful, 

but you Christians - you are not like him."

                                                                     Mahatma Gandhi.

I'm convinced that Gandhi (and many people here in North America today) do not see true Christians. He saw people who claimed to be Christians. People who were not practising what Jesus taught.

The key message of Jesus can be put into one statement,

"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets" Matthew 7:12.

Jesus when asked,

When it comes to the definition of Christian love the apostle Paul wrote,

If a person claims to be a Christian and does not show unconditional love for those around them. I would doubt if they are Christians.

Thus my question to you; If you consider yourself a true Christian. A true follower of Christ Jesus, are you showing unconditional love to those around you, Family, friend and foe alike?

So my question to you if you claim to be a Christian, a follower of Christ Jesus, is this the kind of love you show to others?

"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty  of man. 

For God will bring every deed into judgement, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil."Ecclesiastes 12:13,14 

Jesus said,

"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.  

But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him." Luke 12:4,5.

There is a simple truth here. You can either believe in God or not. If those who do not believe in God are correct then what is quoted above means nothing. On the other hand if it is true then we have a lot to fear.

I however do not believe God is a God of wrath. Quite the contrary God is a God of love, Jesus said,

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16,17.

God in sending Christ to this world with the express purpose of saving not just mankind in general but individuals, shows how much in human terms He was willing to go to reconcile each person to himself. 

In entering the world as Jesus. God experienced first hand what it was to be a man. Everything from the mundane such as feeling the rain on his face, sitting with friends, and attending a wedding. To the horrific, a merciless beating and crucifixion. 

Thus when an individual stands before the judgement seat of God no one can say He dose not understand what it is to be human. 

And anyone who reads the Bible cannot say they have not been warned because from cover to cover the Bible points the way to eternal life with God. Jesus summing things up when he said,

 “Whoever believes in him is not condemned,

 but whoever does not believe 

stands condemned already 

because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son". 

                                                                                                     John 3:18.

    Today is Good Friday. The day Jesus showed the world, family, friend, and foe alike how much He loved us by going to the cross and dying for our sins.

Thus my question to you. If you consider yourself a true believer in Christ Jesus do you love as a believer in Christ Jesus should love as Jesus loved,... Unconditionally.

Have you ever wondered what true love is? What God considers true Love?
The apostle Paul writing to the Corinthians wrote what I believe is the ultimate definition of true love.
All I would ask of you the reader, is to ask yourself, if this is the kind of love you show to others?
The apostle Paul writes,

       Poets throughout the ages have tried to express what love is. Yet I believe there is no better words for describing love than the words God inspired the apostle Paul to write.
It’s a check list for true love.
We live in a society where marriage is easy and divorce is easier. Divorce statistics are unbelievably high.
I think the reason we have such high rates of divorce is that we don’t know what love is.
Love in the twenty-first century is mistaken for that bubbly feel good thing that we get around someone. It’s that wonderful feeling we get from having intimate relations with someone else.
This is not love at least in it’s entirety.
Love is there for the long haul.
I’ve been on this earth as of my last birthday sixty plus years. Almost forty of those years of which have been in a loving marriage relationship.
My wife and I have gone through the feel good stage at one end and at the other end of the spectrum we’ve been totally ticked off at each other.
We’ve done things that drive each other crazy. We still do. Never the less in the end we make up, cuddle up, and still after all of these years enjoy being with each other.
I can honestly say that I can’t remember what our last disagreement was about. I just asked my wife if she could and she couldn’t. Which shows how unimportant it was.
What we do remember is when we lived in the Toronto area going to Niagara Falls walking hand in hand for a short time before returning home, only to have to rush to the hospital so my wife could give birth to our first son.
We remember the little things, like my putting my arm around her as we sat in church on a Sunday.
When we were about to get married our pastor at the time quoted the above scriptures from 1 Corinthians to us. He reminded us that true love is not just a physical thing although that is a part of it.
He reminded us that it is a spiritual union of two souls that become one.
Over the years we have gone through a lot, good times and bad time.
The key I believe to our enduring love is not only do we truly believe the word of the Apostle Paul, but that we put them into action in our lives daily.
