God will

God will
The psalmist records,
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10.
Throughout the world today there are many who say God does not exist. Many ask if he does exist why hasn’t he shown himself. To which I answer he has, in the form of his one and only Son Jesus Christ.
In the gospel of John we read,
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men....
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. ”
John 1:1-4,14
The writer of Hebrews speaking of Jesus states,
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”  Hebrews 1:3
Beyond all of this however God asks individuals to have faith that He exists. The writer of Hebrews telling us,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.
God knows that anyone that has true faith in anything will believe no matter what happens. They will go to their grave holding to their belief.
The reward for those who believe in God is eternal life in heaven.
Jesus speaking of himself told everyone who would listen they have a choice, when he said,
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son". John 3:16-18.
Thus my question to you is; do you believe this?
Please think about it.

God is there

God is there
The Psalmist writes,
"Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, You are there;
if I make my bed in the depth, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there Your hand will guide me.
Your right hand will hold me fast."
                                              Psalm 139:7-10.
We cannot hide from God. No matter where we go God is there. We may deny that God exists but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist as C. S. Lewis said,
“A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.” C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain.
Ben Zion Bokser wrote,
“I have not seen the robin but I know he is there because I heard him singing through my window from the tree-top outside.
I have not seen God.  But I have looked at my child’s eyes, and have been overwhelmed by the miracle of unfolding life.
I have watched the trees bedeck themselves with new garbs of green in the spring, and have been stirred by the miracle of continual rebirth.
I have looked at the stars, and have been overcome by the miracle of the grandeur and majesty of the universe.
I know that God exists, because I have heard the song of His presence from all the tree-tops of creation.” Ben Zion Bokser.
I as a believer in Christ Jesus believe that God exists.
I see the evidence everyday when I wake up and look out at the fields and trees beside my house. I see God’s handiwork in the wild Rabbit my two year old grandson tries in vain to catch as it runs across our lawn.
I look at the stars at night and realize that from the greatest galaxy to the smallest subatomic particle everything is in perfect balance to allow life to exist as we know it here on earth.
All of this tells me there is a creator behind it all.
My question then becomes to you the reader do you believe in God? If not why not?
Please think about it.

Your Love

Your Love
The Apostle John writes,
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.
The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:15-17.
What John is saying here is what Jesus said,
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21.
As believers in Christ we must decide who we will follow. We are either following Jesus or we are following the ways of the world. There is no middle ground.
Matthews gospel tells of this encounter between Jesus and a rich young man. It reads,
“Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.”
“Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, “ ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,  honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’’”
“All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”
Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.” Matthew 19:16-22.
Now let me make something clear here. There is nothing wrong with being wealthy. It is the priority you put on your wealth.
In the case of the rich man who came to Jesus it was obvious that he put his wealth first in his life. He was not willing to give it up and trust God to provide for him. Thus he left Jesus sad.
The decision this rich man had to make however is a decision we all must make. Are we willing to trust God to supply our everyday needs or in our wealth.
The prophet Isaiah wrote,
“A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?”
“All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
because the breath of the LORD blows on them.

Surely the people are grass.
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God stands forever.”
                                               Isaiah 40:6-8
All that an individual does in their life ultimately fades away and is forgotten. Only what is done for God will last.
Thus the question becomes where do you put your faith in your wealth and possessions or in God ?
Please think about it.
