On God

On God
In the book of Genesis we read,
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
                                                                                                Genesis 1:1.
The Bible was written to believers in God and believers need no convincing that God exists. Thus no explanation is given.
In the Gospel of John referring to Jesus as the word we read,
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men....
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. " John 1:1-4,14.
Again the Gospel of John and indeed the whole of the New Testament was written to Christians, to believers in Christ Jesus and to such believers no explanation is necessary. Jesus is God incarnate. God in the flesh.
The question thus becomes to non-believers;
Do you believe what the Bible states?
Is there an almighty God?
Did this God in the form of His One and Only Son, Christ Jesus enter the world He created to show each mankind the way to heaven?
These questions to my mind are crucial questions everyone on earth when confronted with the Bible must answer. For as C. S. Lewis stated,
“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.” C. S. Lewis.
Please think about it.

About God

About God

“It is incomprehensible that God should exist, and it is incomprehensible that he should not exist.”
   Blaise Pascal.
Ben Zion Bokser wrote,
“I have not seen the robin but I know he is there because I heard him singing through my window from the tree-top outside.
I have not seen God.  But I have looked at my child’s eyes, and have been overwhelmed by the miracle of unfolding life.
I have watched the trees bedeck themselves with new garbs of green in the spring, and have been stirred by the miracle of continual rebirth.
I have looked at the stars, and have been overcome by the miracle of the grandeur and majesty of the universe.
I know that God exists, because I have heard the song of His presence from all the tree-tops of creation.”
             Ben Zion Bokser
The Psalmist wrote,
“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
                                                                               Psalm 14:1.
I am a Christian it goes without saying I believe in God. Not only that but I’m in the majority in the world. The majority of people in the world believe in God and a life beyond the grave.
All I have to do is look around me to see the hand of God.
The psalmist wrote,
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                                                                                                               Psalm 19:1.
I believe that. As I see the perfection of the natural world I can’t believe it all just came to be by chance. The perfection of it all tells me behind it all is the creators hand.
If life simply evolved as evolutionist say, with the survival of the fittest then man would have become extinct long ago. Simply because a universal moral code would not exist.
In order for man to survive as a species it is essential that all men subscribe to a universal moral code, especially do not kill.
Man even in our so called enlightened age, has a horrible track record when it comes to not killing our fellow man. Not counting wars in the United States alone so far this year over eleven thousand people have died due to gun violence alone. And this with laws that say you should not kill.
That aside, I believe man has written on his heart the fact that he should not kill. This I believe was implanted in mans heart by God.
Abba Hillel Silver wrote,
“Faith in God is the strongest bulwark of a free society.  Human freedom began when men became conscious that over and above society and nature there is a God who created them...who fashioned them in His likeness, and that they are, therefore, possessed of intrinsic and independent significance and are endowed, as individuals, with original and irrevocable rights and authority.”
                                                                                                                                   Abba Hillel Silver.
It is only when man recognizes there ultimately is a God that he will one day be held accountable to that society flourishes.
It’s when men loose their fear of God or twist His words for their own evil devices that things go wrong.
The proof is in world war two when the Nazi’s came to power men who did not fear God causing the deaths of over eleven million people, six million of them Jews alone in death camps. In a war that caused close to sixty million military and civilian casualties.
It’s happening today as terrorist kill and destroy anything they disagree with.
It happens on the streets of our towns and cities where everything from white collar crime to robberies to violent crime take place. Done by men and women who don’t give God a second thought. Who do not believe they will ultimately be called to judgement if not by earthly judges, most certainly by God.
The writer of Ecclesiastes wrote,
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”
   Ecclesiastes 12:13,14.
I believe in God it’s that simple. I believe we all one day will be judged by him.
I also believe in God because without His existence life would have no meaning.
Please think about it.

About God

About God
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13,14

Here is I believe a simple truth. I as an individual can present what I believe about God from now to the day God calls me home. I can put all the proofs I can muster out there for people to read. And I know despite all that I do there will be people around me and people who read the blogs I post that will not believe in God.
The writer of Hebrews more or less admits to this, noting,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
                                                                                                       Hebrews 11:6.
Faith defined as,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
                                                                                                                           Hebrews 11:1.
I think that’s the hard part. Believing in what we cannot see. Yet it is a requirement of God that you believe in Him without seeing Him.
That’s not to say we cannot see his handy work all around us. The psalmist wrote,
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                                                                                                                   Psalm 19:1.
One just has to look at the perfection of the world around us to see that there has to be a creator of it all.
Do you believe?
Please think about it.

About God

About God

“think about that. How is it possible that over ninety percent of all human beings who have ever lived usually in far more painful circumstances than we could believe in God?
The objective evidence, just looking at the balance of pleasure and suffering in the world, would not seem to justify believing in an absolutely good God. Yet this has been almost universally believed.”
      Peter John Kreeft ph.d
God is real. There is life beyond the grave. I believe it as do billions of people around the world. Irrespective of what Atheist may say God exists.
C. S. Lewis wrote,
“A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.”
C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain.
The Psalmist wrote,
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                                                                                          Psalm 19:1.
From the dawn of time man it seems has believed in an afterlife. Every culture in every part of the world believes this. I can’t believe this I can’t believe this is a coincidence. I believe it is built into man’s very being.
Man may deny it but it doesn’t make it any less real.
As I look at the world around me I see the perfect harmony of nature. I look up into the heavens and see wondrous sights. The stars, the galaxies the planets all in harmony with one another.
Mathematics shows us the harmony of our universe from the smallest part of an atom to the largest of galaxies. I cannot believe that all developed by chance.
To me it is the hand of a creator God.
I know I will never change the mind of an ardent Atheist. Someone who blinds him or herself to the perfection of the universe and refuses to at least look and examine the facts.
And I don’t believe that is my job as a Christian.
My job as a Christian as I see it is, to simply say there is a God who loves you. The apostle John recording Jesus as saying,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
                                                                                                            John 3:16-18.
My Job is to ask them to at least think about it.

About Jesus, God, Heaven and Hell

About Jesus, God, Heaven and Hell

Some one challenged me to put down in less than three hundred words what I believe with respect to God, heaven, hell and Jesus. Here are those words.
According to a Gallup Poll, 70% of Americans believe in hell. Belief in hell is highest among regular churchgoers: 92%.
Jesus said,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
John 3:16-18
Jesus made it clear who he was,
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6.
The Apostle Paul wrote,
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast.”
                                                                      Ephesians 2:8,9
The Writer of Hebrews saying,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
                                                                                           Hebrews 11:1
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”
                                                                          Hebrews 11:6
I leave the above here for you to think about.

About God

About God

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
                                              1 Corinthians 1:18.
Can I prove God? Of course I can one just has to look around at the ordered universe. The Psalmist states,
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                                                                                     Psalm 19:1.
The world and the universe in general is in perfect order to sustain life here on earth.
I believe that eventually through good science we will prove that there is one mathematical formula that links the universe together, proving it is created.
Atheism says there is no God I cannot buy into such a concept. If there is no God and a life after this one this life has no meaning.
The writer of Ecclesiastes after examining life makes the following statements
“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun”
Ecclesiastes 1:9
“I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”
Ecclesiastes 1:14
If there is no God then the previous statements are true. However the writer after much contemplation writes,
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”
Ecclesiastes12:13,14
For me to simply be born to procreate live a handful of years and die, seems senseless and a waste of that spark that makes us human, the human soul.
I have over the years examined Atheism among other things and find Atheism to be an empty abyss.
I also find the concept of atheism doesn’t hold up to logical thinking. Perhaps one of the best arguments I’ve read about Atheism was written by Wayne Jackson.  Writing in the Christian courier he says this of Atheism,
“Atheism adamantly argues that there is no God. No atheist, though, can consistently affirm emphatically that there is no God, unless he asserts both his omniscience and his omnipresence. Once he concedes that he does not know everything, he opens the door for the possibility that what he does not know may be the evidence for God’s existence. And if the atheist is not everywhere present, it logically must follow that where he is not might be the very place where proof of Deity is to be found! Thus, it is not reasonable to declare: “I know that God does not exist.” Atheism is merely a crude, irrational faith-system. There is — from the principle of cause and effect, universe design, the awareness of morality, the Scriptures, etc. — more than adequate evidence, for the thinking person, that God exists.”
                                                                  Wayne Jackson
Think about it.
