Th God Conundrum

 The God Conundrum

The Psalmist writes,

“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

                                                            Psalm 14:1.

Think about this carefully. If you believe that there is no God then you must be God. Which nullifies your belief there is no God.

In order to fully prove that there is no God you need to have been everywhere and know everything. Which are attributes of God.

In order to prove there is no God you must have gone beyond the grave. Because if you have not gone beyond the grave. God might well be there. Which I believe He is.

Making the assertion that God dose not exist means you know all things. Which is an attribute of God.

So a true Atheist must be God. Which means he is not an atheist.

Please think about it.

Perhaps the Hardest thing

 Perhaps the Hardest thing

In the book of Jeremiah we read God as saying,

“You will seek me and find me

when you seek me with all your heart.”

                                                        Jeremiah 29:13.

I find most people don’t have God on their radar. This world and all that is happening in it and in their lives is all they are concerned with. At the same time those who espouse to be ardent Atheist it seems without looking carefully for God, dismiss Him. They don’t believe what they cannot see, hear, or touch.

Someone (not me) has said,

“Maybe the atheist cannot find God

for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.”

                                                                             Author Unknown.

Those who don’t believe in God I feel have not looked at the scientific facts,

Werner Heisenberg father of Quantum Mechanics and Nobel prize winner in physics said,

“The first gulp from the glass of natural science will make you an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you" Werner Heisenberg.

Even Stephen Hawking considered one of the greatest minds of the twentieth century admitted,

“The universe and the laws of physics seem to have been specifically designed for us” Stephen Hawking.

The way I see it the proof God exists it all around us, but just like any scientist who realizes from his research something is there he cannot see we need faith to believe in God.

The writer of Hebrews saying,

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for

and certain of what we do not see.

This is what the ancients were commended for.

                                                                     Hebrews 11:1,2

The writer then tells us,

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6.

And having faith in anything, especially someone you cannot see is perhaps the hardest thing anyone can do.

Please think about it.

The gates of hell will not prevail

The gates of hell will not prevail

The Psalmist writes,

"The fool says in his heart,

"There is no God."

                                     Psalm 14:1

C.S. Lewis said of Christianity,

“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.” C. S. Lewis.

For me I believe there has to be something to Christianity. We are a people who preach peace, love and living in harmony with our fellow man. We present to those who will listen to us the way we believe you get to heaven. Then leave it up to the individual to decide for themselves if we are right or wrong.

A true Christian will never force their faith on anyone.

That being said if Christianity is untrue. If God does not exist why are governments such as North Korea putting Christians in forced labour camps?

Why wont Saudi Arabia allow people to convert to Christianity?

Why are atheist in the United States trying to get Christian symbols out of schools and other public places?

It seems to me if there is nothing behind the Christian faith then the symbols and practices of Christianity are meaningless.

Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate, (361-363 A.D.)  an ancient adversary of Christianity. Said in his work against Christianity:

“Jesus…has now been celebrated about three hundred years having done nothing in his lifetime worthy of fame, unless anyone thinks it is a very great work to heal lame and blind people and exorcise demoniacs in the villages of Bethsaida and Bethany.”

At the end of his life Julian was forced to say: “Thou has conquered, O Galilean!”

Over the centuries many men and governments have come against Christianity yet none have prevailed.

Christianity is stronger today than it has ever been and it is still growing even in countries that try to suppress it.

It continues to grow because it is of God, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

Think about it.

Are you?

  Are you?

In the book of Jeremiah we read,

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”                                                                                                                         Jeremiah 29:13

Someone has said,

Maybe the atheist cannot find God f

or the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.”

                                                                         Author Unknown

I think such a statement has merit. Many atheist I’ve met are more determined to show people where the Bible mistakes are than looking at it with an open mind.

In order to find God you have to truly be seeking God with your whole heart. If you simply want to find fault or try to disprove Gods existence you will never find God.

Thus my question to you; Are you truly seeking God?

Please think about it.

Is everything meaningless?

 Is everything meaningless?

In the book of Ecclesiastes we read,

“I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labour.

Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 2:10,11.

If there is no God then the above statement is true. “everything is meaningless, a chasing after the wind;...”

Some atheist say when we die we will live on in the memories of others. A statement that is not completely true. Perhaps if we have made a great discovery we may be remembered in some history book. But most of us will be forgotten within a generation or so.

Ask yourself, where was your great, great, great grandmother or father born? What was the colour of their eyes? What was their favourite piece of music? Where is their grave? What was their greatest achievement? Few people can answer these questions.

So my question to anyone who does not believe in God is where is the purpose in life if we are forgotten within a few generations? If all our achievements are only remembered in some dusty history book?

The way I see it without God life is meaningless. God’s existence makes life worthwhile. God gives us something to look forward to when this life is over.

The writer of Ecclesiastes comes to this conclusion,

“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.

For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Ecclesiastes12:13,14.

Jesus said,

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son". John 3:16-18.

This statement of Jesus if right, and I believe it is. It is God’s offer to each individual of eternal life with Him. While at the same time giving a warning to all who would not believe.

It is a statement that all who hear about Jesus must consider carefully.

Please think about it.

A Truth

  A Truth

Jeremiah the profit quotes God as saying,

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

                                                                                               Jeremiah 29:13

Someone has said of atheists,

Maybe the atheist cannot find God

for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.

                                                                              Author Unknown.

It’s true you must be truly searching for God with an open mind and a sincere heart. Otherwise you will never find God.

Maybe

Maybe
The Psalmist writes,
“The LORD lives!
Praise be to my Rock!
Exalted be God my Saviour!”
                                           Psalm 18:46.
C. S. Lewis said,
"Atheist express their rage against God although in their view He does not exist" C. S. Lewis.
This has always fascinated me. Atheist are among the most vocal critics of God. Atheist nations ban the worship of God. Yet they say God does not exist. It doesn’t make sense especially when it comes to Christianity.
Christianity at its heart is Love. Love for God, your neighbour and even your enemy. How can that hurt anyone?
From my perspective as a believer in God the fact Atheist nations and Atheist in general, at least at a subconscious level, believe that there just might be a God.
Perhaps as someone has said,
“Maybe the atheist cannot find God for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.” Author Unknown.
Perhaps they just don’t want to admit what they believe is wrong.
Please think about it.

Seek Him

Seek Him
"But if from there you seek the LORD your God,
you will find him
if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul."
                                                                                            Deuteronomy 4:29.
I truly believe this. Anyone who has an open mind will find God. The reason many Atheist don’t believe in God in my opinion is that they have closed minds. They have made their decision that God does not exist and refuse to admit they just might be wrong.
Someone once said,
“Maybe the atheist cannot find God for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.” Author Unknown.
To say adamantly there is no God an individual would have to have been everywhere and know all things. Which is an attribute of God. Thus the Atheist would be God. Meaning God exists. Defeating their argument.
We as mere mortals cannot know all things. The universe and everything in it is too vast for us to comprehend.
Not only that to be absolutely sure God does not exist one would have to have gone beyond the gave and returned to tell us.
We know no one except Jesus has gone beyond the grave and He tells us God exists.
Ultimately belief in God comes down to the individual. Each individual must have faith that God exists.
The writer of Hebrews tells us.
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."  Hebrews 11:1
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6.
God however does not ask for blind faith as such. He shows Himself in the world around us. The Psalmist saying,
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.” Psalm 19:1-3.
We only have to look at the world around us to see God’s handiwork. The earth and the Universe in perfect harmony from the smallest subatomic particle to the largest galaxy all in perfect harmony, to allow life as we know it to exist.
Still as I said belief in God is the choice of each individual. God in making the universe did not make robots. He made human beings giving each individual the freedom to choose what they believe.
So it is up to you, do you believe God exists or not?
Please think about.

Eternity and you

Eternity and you
In the book of Ecclesiastes we read,
“I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.
Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 2:10,11.
If there is no God then the above statement is true.”everything is meaningless, a chasing after the wind;...”
If all we are on this earth to do is procreate.  If all our achievements are only remembered in some dusty history book.
The way I see it without God life is meaningless. God’s existence makes life worthwhile. God gives us something to look forward to when this life is over. Eternal life with Him.
The writer of Ecclesiastes after a close examination of life states,
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:13,14.
Jesus speaking of himself said,
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16,17.
Ultimately the choice is yours. You can choose to believe there is no God, or you can choose to believe in God.
Think carefully about it for the choice you make, I believe, has eternal consequences.
Please think about it.

Be Still

Be Still
The Psalmist writes,
“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
                                        Psalm 46:10.
Someone said,
“Maybe the atheist cannot find God
for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.”
                                                                 Author Unknown
That may be true. Many people I know who do not believe in God have made up their mind and are not willing to change.
Believing in God takes faith and as Blaise Pascal wrote,
“In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe
and enough shadows to blind those who don't.”
                                                           Blaise Pascal.
I think as well the reason many people today in our 24/7 society do not believe in God is that they are not looking for Him. They are distracted by the many things that our society has to offer. You just have to walk down the street in any city, go into a shop, walk in the park. Even sitting in a doctors office and you see people constantly on their electronic device.
We are so wired, so content with looking at what this world has to offer that we don’t see God. Yet as the Psalmist warns,
That God,“...will be exalted among the nations,”
That God “will be exalted in the earth.”
In the book of Ecclesiastes we read,
“I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”Ecclesiastes 1:14.
The writer goes on to say,
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:13,14.
The Apostle Paul speaking in Athens states,
"For he (God) has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17:31.
Thus the decision is up to you. You can believe in God or you can choose not to. You can believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The Saviour of Mankind or you can choose not to.
The apostle Paul writes,
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  Romans 10: 9,10.
The choice is yours.
Please think about it.

On Relationship to God

On relationship to God.
Jesus said,
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”
                                                     Revelations 3:20
The following are some comments I’ve found about some people and their relationship to God.
C. S. Lewis said,
“He (God) shows much more of Himself to some people than to others not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition.”  C.S.Lewis
An unknown author writes,
“Maybe the atheist cannot find God
for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.”
                                                                  Author Unknown
Thomas Aquinas writes,
To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary.
To one without faith, no explanation is possible.
                                                          Thomas Aquinas
Blaise Pascal writes,
“In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe
and enough shadows to blind those who don't.”
                                                      Blaise Pascal
The bottom line when it comes to God is you first must have faith, that He indeed exists. The writer of Hebrews stating,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
                                                                       Hebrews 11:6.
The other thing is we must be actively seeking God in order to truly find Him.
Jesus said,
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you;
 seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives;
he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks,
the door will be opened.
                           Luke 11:9,10
Please think about it.

Cosmic Dust

Cosmic Dust
The Bible states,
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
Later it states,
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” Gen 2:7.
One thing scientist and the Bible agree on is that the universe has a beginning. The prevalent theory in the scientific community is that the universe started with a big bag. I as a Christian have no reason to doubt it.
To my way of thinking God could have been responsible for the big bang. He could also have made the universe in seven twenty-four hour day. He after all is an almighty God who could do things anyway he wished.
The thing is ultimately it doesn’t matter one iota how the universe was made. Whether it took billion of years to get us to where we are today or a matter of days or years.
What is important in my mind is whether you believe in God or not.
The Bible doesn’t debate the existence of God. It has no need to. It was written to believers and believers need no convincing. They, even though they cannot see God believe by faith.
Blaise Pascal said of faith,
In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don't.” Blaise Pascal.
The choice as to whether God exists or not rests squarely on the individual.
I know there are Atheist who will never consider believing in God. Just as there are many people of faith in the world who would never consider God does not exist.
While it is my understanding that Albert Einstein was an atheist. He did make and interesting statement. He said,
“Human beings vegetables  or cosmic dust. We all dance to a mysterious tune, intoned in the distance by an invisible player.” Albert Einstein.
I believe we are indeed made from the dust of the cosmos, the dust of the earth. I also believe the invisible player is God. Whom we will one day meet face to face.
The question is do you?
Please think about it.

Your Choice

Your Choice
Luke’s gospel quotes Jesus as saying,
“Again he asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to?
It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough.” Luke 13:20,21.
This is like the message of Jesus today. For over two thousand years now the message of salvation through Christ Jesus has gone throughout the world. It has reached every nation in the world.
Sadly many nations do not like the message. Christians around the world are persecuted for their faith daily.
Oddly many governments who are atheist who say there is no God persecute Christians harshly. Which begs the question if God does not exist what have atheist nations to worry about? They can’t be hurt by something that doesn’t exist.
The fact is what Christians teach is true whether you want to believe it or not. Ultimately the choice is up to you the individual.
Before you make that choice however I would say at least read the New Testament for yourself. Don’t rely on what others say about it. Read it for yourself and then decide whether you believe it or not.
Please think about it.

Do you believe in God?

Do you believe in God?
Blaise Pascal wrote
“It is incomprehensible that God should exist,
and it is incomprehensible that he should not exist.”
                                                                         Blaise Pascal
The Psalmist wrote,
“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
                                                              Psalm 14:1.
C. S. Lewis wrote,
“A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship
Him than a lunatic can put out the sun
by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.”
C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain
The Apostle Paul wrote,
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom,  but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,  but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” 1 Corinthians 1:18-25.
Put simply God does things His way. Not the way man thinks he should do things. God asks all people everywhere to have faith in Him. The writer of Hebrews saying,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.”
                                         Hebrews 11:1
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
                                                                 Hebrews 11:6.
Not believing in God, being an Atheist is also an act of faith. To be an atheist you have to have postulated that for whatever reason there is no God. Even if you simply say I can’t see God therefore He doesn’t exist is an act of faith.
It is if you will what the writer of Hebrews said, “... being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
You are hoping there is no God and in your own mind are certain of it.
To my mind it’s like going out on a cloudy night looking up into the sky and saying, “I can’t see the stars. Therefor they don’t exist.
Just because we can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Ben Zion Boskser wrote,
“I have not seen the robin but I know he is there because I heard him singing through my window from the tree-top outside.
I have not seen God.  But I have looked at my child’s eyes, and have been overwhelmed by the miracle of unfolding life.
I have watched the trees bedeck themselves with new garbs of green in the spring, and have been stirred by the miracle of continual rebirth.
I have looked at the stars, and have been overcome by the miracle of the grandeur and majesty of the universe.
I know that God exists, because I have heard the song of His presence from all the tree-tops of creation.”
         Ben Zion Bokser.
As for me I believe the Psalmist when he wrote,
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                                         Psalm 19:1
For me the fact that we exist. That all of creation exists in the orderly way it does, proves there is a God. The choice however is up to you. Do you believe in God?
Please think about it

Consequences

Consequences
The Bible states,
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1.
The Bible does not debate the existence of God. It has no need to, it is written to believers in God.
Now I know there are people in the world that say there is no God. That is their opinion and I respect that. That being said, just because someone doesn’t believe in God doesn’t mean God doesn’t exist.
I believe the flaw in atheism is that the atheist put themselves in the role of god. They can’t see God so they say he doesn’t exist. But just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
In order to be absolutely sure God does not exist one must know all things and have been everywhere, including beyond the grave. These are attributes of God. Thus the atheist in saying categorically there is no God, he is saying he is god.
No man is god. Man are mortal and fallible. Men make mistakes. Quite often in life we must act in faith because we do not always have the answers. Thus it is with God. We must act in faith. We act in faith saying God does not exist, or we act in faith and say God does exist.
Either way to my mind our decision as to whether God exist or not has eternal consequences.
Jesus said,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son”. John 3:16-18.
The choice is yours.
Please think about it.

A Statement from Psalms

A Statement from Psalms
The Bible makes these three statements,
“The fool says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
                        Psalm 14:1

I am under no delusion that someone claiming to be an ardent Atheist will be changed by what I say. I find such people while wanting me to listen to their argument and come over to their way of thinking, most have no intentions of believing what I say.
Their mind is closed.
The logic of an Atheist for me doesn’t make sense.
In order to beyond doubt know there is no God one has to have been everywhere and know everything. These are attributes only God has. Therefor they must me god.
So saying there is no God is wrong. For if they are all knowing and have been everywhere, attributes of God, they in effect are saying “I am god”.
Which by their logic means they don’t exist. Which we know is untrue because they exist.
Most people I find who claim to be Atheist are really people who have never bothered to look for God. They have never looked rationally at the facts that are out there.
Scientist agree the universe has a beginning. The big bang. The Bible agrees with this. Traditional Christians will tell you the universe was made in six day. Less traditional believers in God, who have looked at the bible and science will tell you the universe like most astrophysicist was made over billions of years. That the day mentioned in the book of Genesis represent epochs.
How God made it is unimportant God is God and could have done it either way. What is important is that God exists and that through creation we can see God. The Psalmist telling us,
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.”
                                                                                      Psalm 19:1-3.
One Astrophysicist I heard noted that the earth is in the exact perfect place in the universe for life to exist as we know it. That every thing from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particle is in the right place to create life as we know it. That this points to a creator.
I firmly agree. I firmly believe that science done right will prove there is a God who created it all.
However the choice is yours. I cannot and will not impose my beliefs on anyone. All I would ask of each person who reads my blogs is to consider what I say and explore for yourself the Bible and science.
There is an excellent series of videos available on You tube by an astrophysicist and pastor named Huge Ross. Who focuses of the Bible and science. I would ask that you take time to view it with an open mind and make your own decision.

Christians and Atheist Agree

Christians and Atheist Agree.
I came across the following interesting statement the other day it said,
“The one thing Christians and Atheist agree on is that we will not get out of this life alive. Where they differ is what happens after this life is over.” author unknown.
That being said if the Atheist is right then Christians have nothing to fear. If on the other hand the Christian is right in believing the words of Jesus who said,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son”. John 3:16-18.
Then the Atheist has a lot to fear. As C. S. Lewis put it,
“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.” C. S. Lewis.

A Bulwark

A Bulwark
The Bible states,
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
                                                                        Genesis 1:1
The Bible does not debate the existence of God. It was written to believers therefor needs no debate.
That being said there are many in the world who do not believe in the existence of God. However it is my opinion that if God does not exist society could not function well.
Abba Hillel Silver wrote,
“Faith in God is the strongest bulwark of a free society.  Human freedom began when men became conscious that over and above society and nature there is a God who created them...who fashioned them in His likeness, and that they are, therefore, possessed of intrinsic and independent significance and are endowed, as individuals, with original and irrevocable rights and authority.” Abba Hillel Silver.
God has, I believe written on the very hearts of each individual what is right and what is wrong. God also went as far as in modern parlance, as to give mankind “a hard copy” of this.
The Book of Genesis recording.
And God spoke these words
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
“You shall have no other gods before me.
“You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand  generations  of those who love me and keep my commandments.
“You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
“Honour your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
“You shall not murder.
“You shall not commit adultery.
“You shall not steal.
“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20:1-17
Commonly known as the ten commandments it tells mankind how God expects mankind to act with respect to God and ones fellow man.
No atheist group has ever come up with a more comprehensive rules to live by as is reflected in the Ten commandments.
They are rules, especially those governing our interaction with our fellow man that all people follow consciously or subconsciously .
When these rules are violated society suffers.
We only have to look to Nazi Germany to see that when a group of people or a society fail to follow the basics rules layed out in the ten commandments millions can suffer.
Scripture tells us,
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Ecclesiastes12:13,14.
It is only when God and his righteous judgement is no longer feared and man turns away from God’s principles, that horrible things start to happen to both individuals and society.

God, Faith, You

God, Faith, You
C. S. Lewis writes,
“He shows much more of Himself to some people than to others-not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition.” C. S. Lewis.
Over the years I’ve heard many Atheist say there is no God. It is also a fact that no matter what you say to some who claim to be atheist they will not believe what you have to say. Their mind is made up.
To them I say that is your God given choice. God when He created man did not make robots. He gave each person the freedom to believe what they want. That includes the right not to believe in God.
Peter John Kreeft writes,
“Atheism treats people cheaply. Also, it robs death of meaning, and if death has no meaning, how can life ultimately have meaning? Atheism cheapens everything it touches, look at the results of communism, the most powerful form of atheism on earth.
And in the end, when the atheist dies and encounters God instead of nothingness he had predicted he’ll recognize that atheism was a cheap answer because it refused the only thing that’s not cheap the God of infinite value”Peter John Kreeft ph.d.
That being said I have met people who call themselves atheist but simply have not bothered to look at the Bible. People who have not even read the New Testament. They say there is no God simply because others have told them so, or they have never bothered to look for God.
Believing in God is an act of Faith. The writer of Hebrews states,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6.
You cannot find God if you are not seeking Him. You will not find God if your mind is made up that he does not exist. You must be looking for God.
Thus my Question: Are you looking for God?
If you are, may I suggest you start by reading the New Testament and find out what the early believers in God and Jesus believed.
Then why not visit a Church. I recommend Baptist Churches around the world. Talk to their pastor ask him what they believe and why. Then make up your mind whether God exist or not.
Please think about it.

God

God
Thomas Aquinas said,
“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” Thomas Aquinas.
I as a Christian believe you have two choices in this life.
1/ Believe there is a God who created the Heavens and the Earth. That He entered this world He created in the form of Jesus, His one and only Son through whom he provided a way to heaven.
2/ Do not believe in God and the Saving Grace offered by Jesus and not go to heaven.
It all comes down to faith. Be you a Christian or Atheist you must have faith.
A Christian has faith that the words of the writer of Hebrews is true when he said,
“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had self-righteous purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” Hebrews 1:1-3
Christians believe,
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9.
Christians believe you cannot work your way to heaven. It is only by accepting the free grace of God by faith that you may enter heaven.
The writer of Hebrews states,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.
Obviously Atheist do not believe this. Never-the-less Atheist do not believe in “nothing” their faith is in their own for lack of a better term “self-righteousness”
They have made themselves if you will “a god.” For in order to be absolutely certain there is no God you must have been everywhere and know everything.
For if you don’t know everything then your not knowing God exists may be the thing you don’t know.
Likewise if you have not been everywhere then God may well be where you have not been and we all know there is no one living today who has been beyond the grave.
Thus the choice is yours.
Believe what the New Testament says about God and Jesus or do not believe.
The question I would ask you those who do not believe in God is, Are you so confident in your beliefs that you are willing to risk your eternal destiny on those beliefs?
The way I see it as a Christian if I am wrong I have lived a good moral life. If I am wrong I have lost nothing.
On the other hand if you do not believe in God and he exists as I believe he does, you have lost everything.
Please think about it.
