On God

On God

“A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.”
C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain.
As I look around me from my perch in Canada I see a world that is slowly turning from God and His ideals. There are many out there that say God dose not exist. They say that this life is all we have. If so what a waste of a soul.
To live just a few seconds in the eternity of time is to me not worth it. Especially in the kind of world we live in with all its problems. For me there has to be more.
I truly believe there is a God who made the universe and everything in it. A God who created man to have fellowship with him. A God who knew that for man to truly have fellowship with Him in a meaningful way had to have a freewill.
That freewill however is a two way street. In giving man a freewill God gave man the ability to believe in Him of not. That’s the beauty of having a free will. We can choose to believe what we want to.
For me I see God’s handiwork all around, everything from the majesty of the galaxies to the precision of the smallest subatomic particles.
I see God’s handiwork in the flowers and the living world around me.
I am reminded by science that our world is at just the right distance from the sun to produce life as we know it. That even the distant stars and planets are positioned in such away as to help life exist on this planet we call home.
I cannot believe that this is all by chance. For me there has to be a God who created it all. A God who offers me and all who would believe in him eternal life in heaven a place far from the problems of this world.
A God who gives us a choice. Jesus saying,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son”.
                                                                                                                                John 3:16-18.
Therefor the choice is yours dear reader. You can believe in God or your can reject Him. For as C. S. Lewis states,
“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.”
                                                       C. S. Lewis

On God

On God

“The evidence is that God is all-powerful. The point to remember is that creating a world where there’s free will and no possibility of sin is self contradiction and opens the door to people choosing evil over God, with suffering being the result. The overwhelming majority of pain in the world is cause by our choices to kill, to slander, to be selfish, to stray sexually, to break our promises, to be reckless.”
                               Peter John Kreeft ph.d.
Kreeft makes a good point. God I believe has set in the heart of everyone the knowledge of good and evil. He also set in our hearts the knowledge that He doses exist.
It is a universal truth that you don’t kill, steal, or do other such things. Yet men and women everyday choose to do so. This is sin and all sin is equal and separates us from God.
Not recognizing God exists and Jesus is his one and only Son the saviour of the world also separates us from God. We must believe by faith He exists.
The writer of Hebrews said,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
                                                                                                        Hebrews 11:6
God gives us the right to choose one of those choices is to believe that He exists or not to believe He exists. That choice also extends to Jesus also.
The decision is always up to you the individual.
Jesus gave us a warning when He said,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
                                                                                                       John 3:16-18.
The choice as to where we will spend eternity is always yours.
I would ask you the reader to at least read the New Testament before you make any decisions about God. Read it with an open mind asking God to show you His reality.
Please think about it.

On God

On God
Peter John Kreeft states,
“Atheism treats people cheaply. Also, it robs death of meaning, and if death has no meaning, how can life ultimately have meaning? Atheism cheapens everything it touches, look at the results of communism, the most powerful form of atheism on earth.
And in the end, when the atheist dies and encounters God instead of nothingness he had predicted he’ll recognize that atheism was a cheap answer because it refused the only thing that’s not cheap the God of infinite value”
                                          Peter John Kreeft ph.d
Kreeft is right if death has no meaning then life cannot have meaning. If there is no God then what is stopping mankind from doing as they wish.
What’s the point in having moral values. if there is no one to enforce them or to make the individual account for their breaking them.
The Bible does not at any time debate the fact there is a God who created the universe and everything in it. It does not debate the fact that God instilled in the heart of every man a moral code that is the same all over the world.
The Bible simply says.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
                                                                                        Genesis 1:1.
Later in the New Testament in the Gospel of John it states,
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men....
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
                                                                                           John 1:1-4, 12-14.
It makes it clear that God took a small part of himself and entered the world He created as the God the Son.
None of this is up for debate according to the Bible. The Bible simply asks you accept these things by faith. The writer of Hebrews stating,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
                                                                                                        Hebrews 11:6
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
                                                                                                                           Hebrews 11:1.
Simply put the choice to believe in God is up to each and every individual. The consequences of what they believe will determine where they will spend eternity.
Please think about it.

On God

“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
“You shall have no other gods before me.
“You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,  but showing love to a thousand  generations  of those who love me and keep my commandments.
“You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
“Honour your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
“You shall not murder.
“You shall not commit adultery.
“You shall not steal.
“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbour.
“You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour.”
Exodus 20:2-17.
The ten commandments a basic set of morals to live by, given by God to man.
Moral absolutes is one thing the atheist cannot explain. If there is no universal absolutes mankind would sink into anarchy.
Every man and woman that has ever been born is born with moral absolutes. We know instinctively what is right and wrong.
The book of Exodus puts down in writing what God would have us live by in the form of the ten commandments.
The first five outlines how God would have us act with respect to him. The last five outlines how we are to act toward our fellow man. It is because of this basic moral code that human society can function correctly.
When these basic laws are broken society starts to fall apart. Nazi Germany is a classic example. Millions of people died because a group of men and women did not fear God and broke His moral code. The Islamic State terrorist and for that matter all terrorist groups are also examples of men who have transcended God’s laws bringing about death and misery for hundreds of thousands.
Man needs moral absolutes. Man needs a God to respect.
Abba Hillel Silver wrote,
“Faith in God is the strongest bulwark of a free society.  Human freedom began when men became conscious that over and above society and nature there is a God who created them...who fashioned them in His likeness, and that they are, therefore, possessed of intrinsic and independent significance and are endowed, as individuals, with original and irrevocable rights and authority.
Abba Hillel Silver
I for one believe those who say there is no God are fooling themselves. God and life after death add meaning to life,
Peter John Kreeft states,
“Atheism treats people cheaply.
