Remember what God has done

 Remember what God has done

In the book of Chronicles we read,

“Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done.

Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts.

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.

Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced,...” 1 Chronicles 16:8-12.

Do you do this?

Do you sing praises to The Lord?

Do you tell those around you what God has done?

Do you rejoice in knowing The Lord and all He has done for you?

Do you remember wonders, miracles and judgements He has pronounced?

Please think about it.

For evermore

 For evermore

The Psalmist writes,

"Seek the Lord, and His strength:

seek His face evermore."

                                                Psalm 105:4.

Being a Christian not simply saying “I believe in God and that Jesus paid the price for my sins”.

Being a Christian is going before God continually to seek His wisdom and guidance.

The late American evangelist Billy Graham,

“The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, 'O God, forgive me,' or 'Help me.'” Billy Graham

In our lives we will have many ups and downs.

The key however whether we are in one of the valleys of life or having a mountain top experience is to seek God continually.

We do this by studying the scriptures, praying, and praising God.

Do you seek The Lord continually in good times and in bad?

Please think about it.

Seek God's face continually!

 Seek God’s face continually!

The Psalmist writes,

“Seek the LORD and His strength;

Seek His presence continually!”

                                                       Psalm 105:1-4.

Here is a simple admonition from the Psalmist to all who believe in God. To all who believe in Christ Jesus.

“Seek the LORD, and His strength: seek His face continually!”

This to me is saying we must make God an integral part of our life. We should seek His guidance daily especially in the important decisions of life.

If you claim to be a Christian do you do this?

Please think about it.

If you look

 If you look

In the book of Deuteronomy we read,

"But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul."  Deuteronomy 4:29.

An unknown writer stated,

“Maybe the atheist cannot find God

for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.”

                                                                              Author Unknown.

In order to truly find God you have to be looking for Him. Sadly too many people are not looking for God. Equally sad is the fact that many people have made up their minds that there is no God without at least reading the New Testament or the Bible as a whole.

As the writer of Deuteronomy states you have to look for God with your whole heart and soul.

Are you?

Please think about it.

Call on Him

  Call on Him

Jeremiah the prophet states,

“Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:12,13.

In order to find God we must be searching for Him. Not only that but when the truth of Gods existence is revealed to us, we must continue to seek the truths He offers to us.

Jesus said,

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24.

The Christian life is one of continued growth. The more we study the scriptures the more we grow into the person God wants us to be.

Jesus told us,

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7,8.

If you claim to be a Christian. A believer in Christ Jesus do you study the scriptures, praying, calling on God that He will show you the truths that are within their pages?

Please think about it.

If you seek

If you seek
In the book of Deuteronomy we read,
"But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul."  Deuteronomy 4:29.
Someone once said,
“Maybe the atheist cannot find God for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.” Author Unknown.
The truth is you must be looking for someone in order to find them. Which is why I think many Atheist cannot find God. They may say they are looking but they already have their minds made up.
I have met many who say they are looking for God, when all they are doing is looking for evidence that what they believe is right.
Finding God is an act of faith. The book of Hebrews tells us,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.
Faith defined as,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”  Hebrews 11:1.
That being said God does not want us to have blind faith in Him. But rather informed faith. The psalmist states,
"The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day naive pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard."
                                                                                            Psalm 19:1-3
If we look into Science correctly we will see the handiwork of God.
One of the most brilliant minds of our time Stephen Hawking said,
“It would be very difficult to explain why the universe should have begun in just this way, except as the act of a God who intended to create beings like us,” Stephen Hawking.
I like what William Philips a Nobel prize winner in Physics said,
“I believe in God more because of science than in spite of it”William Philips.
Werner Heisenberg the father of Quantum Mechanics and Nobel Prize winner in Physics said,
“The first gulp from the glass of natural science will make you an atheist,
but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you” Werner Heisenberg.
I think in order to find God we have to keep looking. Both Philips and Heisenberg are well educated scientist who believe in God because of their work in science.
I think to say simply because I cannot see, hear or touch God in a tangible way is naive. Something that has eternal consequences.
Please think about it.

The Greatest Adventure

The greatest adventure
Jesus said,
"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Luke 11:9,10.
Raphael Simon wrote,
“To fall in love with God is the greatest of all romances; to seek him, the greatest adventure; to find him, the greatest human achievement.” Raphael Simon.
I firmly believe that if you are truly serious about finding God He will reveal himself to you. The key is you need to be truly searching for God. You need to have faith that God exists, The writer of the book of Hebrews states,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.”
                                              Hebrews 11:1
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
                                                              Hebrews 11:6
Thus my questions,
Do you have faith that God exists? If so are you truly seeking God?
Please think about it.

Those who have not seen

Those who have not seen
John’s gospel records,
“Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.
So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.”
A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:24-29.
Here we have the story of the man quite often referred to as doubting Thomas. He wanted proof that Jesus was alive following his death on the cross. He wasn’t taking the word of the other disciples. He wanted physical proof, so Jesus appeared to him.
What Jesus however said after furnishing proof to Thomas is important. John records,
“Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Believing in Jesus and all that he did is especially today in the twenty-first century an act of faith. The writer of Hebrews tells us,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.”
                                          Hebrews 11:1
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
                                                               Hebrews 11:6
Having faith in anything is a difficult thing for many if not most people. Still it is what God requires of us. Yet when you think about it having faith in God costs us nothing.
Blaise Pascal wrote,
“Belief is a wise wager. Granted that faith cannot be proved, what harm will come to you if you gamble on its truth and it proves false? If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Wager, then, without hesitation, that He exists.” Blaise Pascal.
Please think about it.

Worship do you?

Worship do you?
Jesus said,
“Yet a time is coming and has now come
when the true worshipers
will worship the Father in spirit and truth,
for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
God is spirit,
and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
                                                                               John 4:23-24.
There are many in this day and age especially here in North America where I live who claim to be Christians. Who claim to worship God, and they do somewhat. They go to church, they participate in the worship portion of the service. Listen to the sermon. There heart however is not entirely in it.
Outside of the church they do nothing. They fail to worship God outside of Church. The things of the world it seems are more important to them.
The way I see it is Worship is made up of three things. Praise, prayer and thanksgiving.
The psalmist tells us,
Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
 praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.
                              Psalm 150.
The apostle Paul tells us,
“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone...” 1 Timothy 2:1.
The Psalmist telling us,
“Give thanks to the LORD,
for he is good; his love endures forever.
Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the LORD say: “His love endures forever.”
                                                                                 Psalm 1181-4

This, if you claim to be a Christian, a follower of Christ Jesus this is what you should be doing both inside and outside the church.
Please think about it.

You will find Him

You will find Him
In the book of Deuteronomy we find this quote,
“But if from there you seek the LORD your God,
you will find him
if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
                                                                     Deuteronomy 4:29.
You have to be looking for God? C. S. Lewis states,
“He shows much more of Himself to some people than to others-not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition.” C. S. Lewis.
Lewis is right. Many who don’t believe in God are not really looking for Him. Many Atheist say I can’t see Him, touch Him, therefore he doesn’t exist. There minds are made up and nothing can convince them otherwise.
I admit I cannot prove God exists scientifically but I can see God’s handiwork in all creation.
The Psalmist tells us,
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.”
                                                                          Psalm 19:1-3.
When I look at the world around me and indeed the universe as a whole I see a perfect creation. A place where everything from the smallest subatomic particle to the largest galaxy is arranged in such a way as to allow life to exist as we know it.
I cannot believe this came into being purely by chance. That being said it takes faith to believe God exists.
God requires us to have faith in Him. The writer of Hebrews states,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
                                                                       Hebrews 11:6.
Faith defined as,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.”
                                                   Hebrews 11:1.
God however does not ask for blind faith. God shows himself through the universe he created. All we have to do is truly be looking for God.
As the writer of Deuteronomy states,
“But if from there you seek the LORD your God,
you will find him
if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
                                                                     Deuteronomy 4:29.
Please think about it.

He who truly seeks finds

He who truly seeks finds
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives;
 he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
                                                         Matthew 7:7,8.
I believe those words of Jesus quoted above, especially when it comes to God. I believe that anyone who is truly looking for God will find Him.
The thing is many who do not believe in God, have either not looked for Him, or simply conclude that since they can’t physically see God he doesn’t exist.
C. S. Lewis said,
“He shows much more of Himself to some people than to others-not because He has favourites, but because it is impossible for Him to show Himself to a man whose whole mind and character are in the wrong condition.”  C. S. Lewis.
We must be searching for God in order to find him. If we simply say I can’t see God therefor he doesn’t exist. Then we will never find God. We must have faith that God exists in order to find God.
The writer of Hebrews states,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him
must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
                                                              Hebrews 11:6
The question is do you have faith that God exists?
Ben Zion Bokser wrote,
“I have not seen the robin but I know he is there because I heard him singing through my window from the tree-top outside.
I have not seen God.  But I have looked at my child’s eyes, and have been overwhelmed by the miracle of unfolding life.
I have watched the trees bedeck themselves with new garbs of green in the spring, and have been stirred by the miracle of continual rebirth.
I have looked at the stars, and have been overcome by the miracle of the grandeur and majesty of the universe.
I know that God exists, because I have heard the song of His presence from all the tree-tops of creation.” Ben Zion Bokser
Thus the choice is yours.
Do you believe in God or not?
Only you can decide.
Please think about it.

The seeker

The Seeker

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 7:7,8.

I believe that I will never be able, no matter how many words I write, or how persuasive my arguments are convince an atheist who’s mind is made up that there is a God. That being said I believe such people are small in number. Further more I believe even the most ardent Atheist is not beyond God’s ability to show him that He exists.
The above scripture is the words of Jesus. He is speaking to those who are truly seeking for meaning in life. His call to them is to continue to seek God with all their heart and he will show himself to them.
The psalmist writes,
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                                                                                      Psalm 19:1.
Nature does indeed show the evidence of a creator God.
If we look at nature it is mathematically prefect. We may not know all the formulas or simply the formula that run the universe yet, but they are there to find.
For me if there is no God and a life after this, life is meaningless. All our good deeds our great creative works, are simply a waste.
The writer of Ecclesiastes wrote,
“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun”
Ecclesiastes 1:9
“I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”
Ecclesiastes 1:14
His ultimate conclusion,
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole  duty  of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”
Ecclesiastes12:13,14
There is a God I’m convinced of that,
The Psalmist says.
“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
                                                                       Psalm 14:1.
The apostle Paul writes,
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
                        1 Corinthians 1:18
I believe a true seeker of truth will prove the words of the psalmist and of Paul. I believe the true seeker will find God and come into a personal relationship with God.
Are you that seeker?
Are you looking for meaning to life?
Please take time to pray and ask God to show yourself to you. Take time read the Bible. Read the New Testament first and I am convinced God will show himself to you.
Please think about it.

Ask, Seek, Knock

Ask, Seek, Knock

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7,8.
I believe those words of Jesus quoted above. I believe that anyone who is truly looking for God will find Him.
I believe that provided we believe there is a God, that if we search enough we will find him.
I know that God exists, because I have heard the song of His presence from all the tree-tops of creation.”
For me it is inconceivable that the universe we live in was not made by God.
Albert Einstein said,
“Human beings vegetables or cosmic dust. We all dance to a mysterious tune, intoned in the distance by an invisible player.”
Einstein whether he knew it or not, I believe got it right. The mysterious tune is life the invisible player is God.
The Psalmist said,
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                                                                                                                Psalm 19:1.
I am no scientist. I am simply a well educated layman that throughout my life have put a premium on learning. I believe there is more to life than what we can see, hear, and touch.
I believe there is life after this and a God that wants to have a personal relationship with all mankind.
Jesus said,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
    John 3:16,17.
I believe Jesus is the Son of God. That he came to this earth to point mankind to that personal relationship with God.
Think about it.
