Psalms, Voltaire, and Billy Graham

Psalms Voltaire, and Billy Graham
The Psalmist writes,
“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
                                                                Psalm 14:1

“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                                       Psalm 19:1
Voltaire wrote,
“I cannot imagine how the clockwork of the universe can exist
 without a clockmaker.”
                                    Voltaire
Billy Graham stated,
I can't prove it scientifically,
that there's a God,
but I believe.
                         Billy Graham.
We may not be able to prove scientifically today in the twenty-first century that there is a God, but that does not preclude His existence.
I was born in the 1950's. at that time black holes, planets in other star systems, many sub atomic particles, that we know of today were unknown. It didn’t mean they didn’t exist. It just meant scientist hadn’t discovered them.
Scientist speculated on their existence because of what they seen in the world around them postulated a theory and quite often had to wait for science to advance to prove they existed.
Some of Eienstein’s theories were not proven until long after his death. Yet Eienstein and others like him believed in their theories. They believed that they would one day be proven. In short they had faith in their theory.
The writer of Hebrews states,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
 and
certain of what we do not see.”
                                          Hebrews 11:1
So it is with believers in God. We look at the orderly universe around us. We see that everything from the largest galaxy to the smallest sub-atomic particle is perfectly in sync with one another to produce life as we know it on this planet.
The conclusion we come to is that there is a Creator God behind it all.
If we are wrong we have nothing to fear.
If we are right we enter into eternity knowing the very maker of the Universe.
Please think about it.

God and Creation

God and Creation
The Bible written to believers in God makes a simple statement,
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
                                                                         Genesis 1:1
There are debates in Christian circles as to whether God created the universe and everything in it in six twenty-four hour days, or over the space of millions of years.
For me personally it matters little to my faith as to how God created the universe. He’s God and he could have done it either way.
That being said I would like to quote what some scientist are saying about creation. I got these quotes from a video by Dr. Huge Ross an Astronomer and Astrophysicist who is also a creationist.
In his video “Journey Toward Creation” he states for life to evolve as we know it, more than 200 characteristics must be present. He notes,
“The probability of all these known parameters randomly coming together would be one chance in 10 to the 215th power, a probability so incredibly tiny that statistically speaking is impossible. This probability is becoming more remote with every scientific discovery.”
Since the video came out The number of characteristics believed to be necessary for life is now considered to be in excess of 800. As more have since been discovered since the video’s release.
In his video Ross goes on to quote several prominent scientist,
Physicist Dr. Paul Davies Professor of Natural Philosophy in the Australian Centre of Astrobiology at Macquarie University who formally promoted Atheism said,
“The Laws of Physics seem themselves to be the product of exceedingly ingenious design.[There] is for me powerful evidence that there is something going on behind it all it seems as though somebody has fine-tuned nature’s numbers to make the Universe... The impression of design is overwhelming” Dr Paul Davies
Dr. Arno Penzias 1978 Nobel Prize winner in Physics said,
“Astronomy leads us to a unique event, a universe which was created out of nothing, one with a very delicate balance needed to provide exactly the conditions required to permit life and one which has an underlying (one might say ‘supernatural’) plan.” Dr, Arno Penzias
Stephen Hawking is quoted as,
“It would be very difficult to explain why the universe should have begun in just this way, except as the act of a God who intended to create beings like us,” Stephen Hawking.
Those quoted above are very will educated men. Men who have studied and continue to study carefully how the universe was created.
They have looked into the heavens and concluded there is a God who created the universe. They have proven what the Psalmist said,
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.”
                                                                        Psalm 19:1-3.
Please think about it.

Something to consider

Something to consider
Job looked up into the heavens somewhere around the tenth century BC and noted,
“He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.”
                           Job 26:7
Thousands of years later the crew of Apollo 17 took the picture above proving Job was right.
Someone has said,
“The Earth is if you will a self sufficient organic extremely complex spacecraft. It is orbiting the sun at 250km/second. The sun is moving around the centre of the universe at 660km/second. All of this including its exact positioning in the universe make it possible for life to exist as we know it.”
That to me speaks to the fact there is a creator behind everything.
The book of Genesis states,
In the beginning God created
 the heavens and the earth.”
                             Genesis 1:1
The Psalmist writes,
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
                                            Psalm 19:1.
Everything from the smallest subatomic particle to the largest galaxy has its place in the Universe so that life can exist on this planet.
Scientist tell us that just a little closer to the sun or a little further away and life would not exist as we know it.
Someone once asked me if I believed if there is life on other planets. I replied I don’t know. However even if there were it would not affect my belief in God.
I believe God exists it’s that simple. If I am wrong I have nothing to fear. I have simply led a good life by following Him.
If on the other hand I am right those who do not believe in God have much to fear.
What do you believe?
Please think about it.

God Created

God Created
The Book of Genesis tells us,
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1
Paul Dirac said,
“God used beautiful mathematics in creating the world.”
Paul Dirac
I am a Christian. I have read the Bible. At the same time I am a firm believer in that science done correctly will give proof God created the heavens and the Earth.
The Psalmist states,
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.”
Psalm 19:1-3
I am told by scientist that the earth is at the exact place not only in the solar system to sustain life as we know it, but in the exact place in the universe.
The scientists are showing that the universe is mathematically perfect. We may not have all the correct formulas for predicting things that happen in the universe yet, but given enough time that will happen.
The perfection of the universe to sustain life as we know it, to my way of thinking points to the universe being created by God.
Whether God used the big bang or any other means makes no difference. The fact remains God could have created the universe any way He wished.
What I would ask of those who are reading this and don’t believe in God or for that matter Christians who do believe in God, is look up on You Tube a couple of videos by Hugh Ross.
Hugh Ross is an astrophysicist who believes in God. Two of his videos use science to show God could create the universe. The Videos are “God and the Big Bang” and Genesis One and Natural History.
Please take time to both read the Bible and listen to these videos. Do so with an open mind and I believe God will show Himself to you.
Please think about it.

Creation

Creation
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
                                                                                     Genesis 1:1
A Nebula taken from Hubble space telescope

                                                                     A  day old human embryo

The surface of Mars a planet too far from the sun it has no life as we know it.

                                                                       Earth our home. Just the
right distance from the sun for life to exist.
With all the elements necessary for life.
The book of Job states,
“He spreads out the northern  skies  over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.”
                                       Job 26:7
Not a bad description for a man who had never seen an image from space. Who had only seen the world around him.
The more I look into the heavens or through a microscope the more I see the hand of God. Everything is in balance. Everything we need to sustain life as we know it is there. Contrast earth to Mars. Earth has everything necessary for life Mars has as far as we know has some water and little else.
We are a divine creation. Created by God to have fellowship with Him. God did not want robots. Quite the contrary he wanted people who could think. Thus he gave us the ability to choose knowing full well that we may choose to turn away from him, as many people have done.
Never the less he has seen fit to show us the way back to him. He did so by sending his one and only son into the world.
Jesus came into the world I believe to experience everything a man could possibly experience.
Jesus as far as we know grew up in a devout family and had a relatively normal childhood. He did however have to become a political refugee while still an infant. He and his parents escaping to Egypt to avoid the wrath of a despot who wished to kill him.
Jesus also studied the scriptures. His parents finding him in his early teens talking with the scholars of his day, who marveled at his knowledge.
Throughout his ministry he spoke to the average person about God and the way to heaven.
He made things clear about himself saying,
... “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
                                                                                                                                                 John 14:6.
After a three year ministry he suffered the indignity of an illegal trial, was flogged and put to death in a most hideous way.
In between all of this he lived an exemplary life and understood all was to be human. Everything from the rain against his face. To the heat of the sun, to the pleasing scent of a flower.
He even understood what it was like to be tempted and go his own way, away from God. That is why when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ we can never say to Him you don’t understand what it is to be human.
Over the years many ideas about God have arisen. Many ideas about how we get to heaven but non have made the claims Christians make.
The apostle Paul while speaking to the Athenians said of Christ,
“‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
“Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man’s design and skill.
In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.”
                                                                            Acts 17:28-31.
There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus will one day judge mankind. The question is will you meet him as your Judge or you Saviour?
The apostle John in his Gospel writes,
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men.”
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—  children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
John 1:1-4,12,13.
